Reading Challenge 2013

Look at me already being more productive! I finally updated my reading challenge for 2012 (I know, totally overdue!) and even though I managed to read 80 books last year, it only came to 25,860 pages. Bleh, that’s what I get for reading graphic novels. Ah well.

Onward to 2013s challenge, 100 books or 40,000 pages, whichever I manage first. (If last year is any indication I have no hope at 40k pages.) =P

For anyone interested to see what I have been reading, here is my book list on Goodreads.com. As for how I’m picking what to read, I’ve been following along with a few different online book cluby sort of things which are: Vaginal Fantasy Hangout, Geek Girls Book Club, and occasionally The Sword and Lazer.

Nice! I just discovered the Stats section on goodreads. Hmm, 111 books for 2012, of which cookbooks is a significant wedge. Sounds about right :)

    Happy reading!

111 books! Wow thats impressive. Although funny its cookbooks. I dont tend to read my cookbooks much, except for skimming to see which recipe I’m looking for. But then I dont use cookbooks much anyway. Hmmmm, bet my cooking repertoire would improve tons if I did actually read them.

Hmm, I wouldn’t really worry about it, I don’t know if it would help much unless you are already a recipe follower. I never follow cookbooks much either, even when baking. Which is why my baking is generally quite….unpredictable. :)

I read cookbooks like food-centric novels, and use them for ideas and inspiration. Last year we were just getting into Korean food so I bought about 8 cookbooks to plumb them for kimchi ideas and to try to replicate dishes we liked (like ddeokbokki). I have cookbooks from so many countries and random places, I have a scottish cookbook, one that is just jell-o, three Burmese cookbooks, and so many bread-baking books that it has its own section on my cookbook bookshelf (yes I have a whole bookshelf of just cookbooks :) ).

If you’d ever like to borrow a cookbook, let me know, you are more than welcome to it. :)

Wow!! I would borrow a cookbook but I would rather you just cook delicious stuff for me. =D
