Gamer Girl Manifesto
Wednesday, December 28th, 2011I love the sentiment behind this. Dont be a dick.

Oh yeah!
Sunday, November 27th, 2011My highest Words with Friends word yet! 153 points is not too shabby. =)
Played ‘Mistake’ my previous turn and thought myself quite clever as the word nestled right in between two Triple Word bonuses. My fabulous opponent didn’t take advantage, so I had the chance to play Zeps on the Triple Word bonus with the Z landing on a Triple Letter bonus.
Zep, BTW, is the name of a large sandwich, and yes I had to look it up. =P
Professor Layton and The Unwound Future Review (DS)
Sunday, October 16th, 2011Professor Layton and his sidekick Luke are back and ready to solve their third adventure filled with murder, mystery and mayhem.
In true sequel fashion, this third installment is identical too its predecessors. Oh the story is certainly different and the mini games changed, but the look, game play, and interactions are essentially the same.
In my case, this is not a bad thing. I had already dealt with my bout of disappointment when I played through the second installment, and accepted that the Layton series is not about to evolve. So more of the same is just I was expecting when I started in on #3.
Battleheart Review (iPad)
Tuesday, September 6th, 2011The single iPad in our house really belongs to my husband. This has never posed a problem, as I haven’t found much use for it. Then he shared Battleheart with me. This addictive little game is almost good enough to cause iPad fights.
Although Battleheart is a very accomplished game, the few items of great annoyance have tempered my addiction enough to save us from having to purchase iPad #2. =)
4 letters = 99 points!
Wednesday, August 17th, 2011
I dont often find a word that hits a triple letter and a triple word this perfectly. Little bit of luck and getting better at aiming for those triple words resulted in ‘jots’ for 99pts. Yes, I’m a little proud. I believe this is the highest total points I have gotten in a single word thus far.
And before you ask, I am indeed still playing Words with Friends (even though I have since deleted the dreaded Hanging with Friends). My devotion to WWF is incomprehensibly strong.
Then again, how can I afford to quit after such a fabulous score? =P
3DS price drop
Sunday, August 14th, 2011Nintendo has dropped the price on the fancy 3DS (as of August 12, 2011). Clearly they haven’t sold enough units and are hoping to stimulate the sale of games and 3DSs by making it cheaper.
Totally sold me. I am now the proud owner of a brand new teal 3DS!! I can play Ocarina of Time!!!
As a side note to the awesome power of cheaper 3DSs, the executives of Nintendo are taking a pay cut to accompany this price drop. The press release states that they feel responsible for the poor showing of the 3DS.
I have to say that I find this incredible fabulous, not that they are losing money, but the taking responsibility. It’s something we are sorely lacking in the USA. Then again our culture never involved Seppuku for failure. Can’t help but think that a little more Seppuku would do us good.

Saturday, August 13th, 2011Hanging with Friends Review (iPhone)
Friday, July 8th, 2011With Zynga’s purchase of the Words with Friends title, it was only a matter of time before the onslaught of ‘with friends’ titles began. I am positive that ‘Hanging with Friends’ is mainly the flagship, the forerunner in the ‘with Friends’ campaign that Zynga will launch on the social and mobile networks. Quantity over quality does seem to be their modus operandi.
But my Words with Friends devotion overshadowed any Zynga concerns and so I tried the new Hanging with Friends.
WWF highlights
Friday, June 3rd, 2011Lots of Words with Friends lately. Somehow a bunch of friends have found on me on the WWF. Or maybe the word has gotten around that I’m an easy win. I blame Facebook. =P
Thought I would share a few highlights.
One sort of strategy that I mostly aim for is trying to garner as many points for as few letters as possible (small words are flat out easier to find). Love the symmetry on the OX play and 54 points for two little letters. Not my move, but worthy of a mention, because really two letter move for 54 points!!!
Some of my favorite shorts have been “wit” for 48 points, ‘jam’ for 45, ‘chef’ for 76, and ‘goes’ for 63. Thats right people, not a single Q or Z to be found. =D
