Santa brought me a new Xbox 360, which should be good right? It is, in that I can finally finish Portal 2. But I’m still bummed that our old Xbox which had so little actual run time, crapped out. I don’t relish giving more money to a company that made such a crappy product.

While the new Xbox is actually really great (pains me to say). It is far smaller, much cuter, and so unexpectedly quiet. But it also didn’t have any of my saved games on it. Get this, to get my saved games off of my old Xbox I would have had to purchase a special wire to facilitate the transfer. More money to Microsoft? Hell No! Thankfully a friend of ours offered to download all the hard drive content to a USB drive. So now I really can finish Portal 2.

Santa’s gift, though mostly necessary, wasn’t really what I wanted. Thankfully my family came through with these awesome Star Wars lunch boxes. I might just have to find some excuse to go back to school. Picnic maybe?

To go along with the lunch boxes, were Marvel and Star Wars cookie cutters. My holiday baking will obviously have to continue!

So according to the Xbox website, we have to send in our broken one to get it fixed. It takes about three weeks but hopefully this means we dont have to purchase a brand new one.

All good news! Only it will delay my finishing a few of the Xbox games I have laying around, like Portal 2. But Uncharted 3 came out today (PS3), which means my Xbox was going to be shelved for a while anyway.

Serendipity.

It’s official. The Xbox 360 is not coming back from the ring of death. A simple restart has ceased fixing that problem.

It’s good I have all this candy just laying around so I can drown my sorrows in chocolate.

And by sorrows I don’t mean mourning. I hate that stupid over priced, over hyped, noisy, and hugely fallible piece of crap machinery. No, I am sad about having to spend money on purchasing a brand new one so I can finish Portal 2.

It might be a sign of getting older, but I am LOVING the larger screen. Brings to mind large print books. Can’t see? Lets just make it bigger!

Okay, so I exaggerate a bit, its really just a slightly enlarged DSi. =P

Actually the whole size thing had me a little worried. The portability of the previously sized DS’s was quite convenient. I needn’t have worried, the size increase is noticeable and does mean that you can’t carry it around in your pocket, but its plenty small enough to carry without looking like you are lugging your laptop around. =P

Funny, size wise, it seems like Nintendo’s hand helds have come full circle. GameBoys of old were pretty much the same size as this lovely DSi XL. Amazing all the stuff you can pack into that size now a days – two much larger screens, camera, SD card, and wireless internetz. Only thing its missing is a GameBoy cartridge slot. Guess I will have to save one of the old DS’s just in case. =D

We were one of the original adopters of the iPhone. While we did pay the original (very large) price for our matching original iPhones, it wasn’t terribly hard for us to switch as we were already had the proper phone service. In fact our transition was so smooth we could hardly fathom anyone having troubles with it at all.

Initially my husband came home with only one. I had denied wanting one. My minimal cell phone use didn’t warrant spending that kind of money, I thought. After ten minutes of holding it in my hand and playing around with it, I was sold. So I adopted that one and my husband ran out and got himself another new iPhone. The iPhone singlehandedly made texting possible for me.

Its been two years and my old phone is wearing out. There is a crack in the glass and the battery is wearing thin. But yet again I had to see my husbands new phone before I was convinced that upgrading was worth it.

So worth it!

This past weekend my laptop started acting funny again. It was worrisome since it had just made it back from being soaked in water. (Turns out laptops don’t like it.)

Anxiously I returned to the Mac Genius bar and explained how the touchpad buttons don’t seem to work anymore because there seemed to be some sort of bulge and maybe it had to do with the previous damage. Very politely the guy cut into my nervous babbling (I was picturing weeks again without my laptop), turned over the computer and popped out the battery. Computer worked like a dream after that.

It’s finally back, and talking to me. I’m still not sure if its better then before, but at least I have all my old setting back. Even though its not quite as familiar as it was before. I guess we have to reestablish a comfortable working relashionship. =P

With the return I have lost all excuses not to finish the million projects or so I started. /sigh And of course while it was gone I took on a whole load of different stuff, like raiding. Thats right I am taking my WoW hunter raiding. Lets just say there is a huge learning curve and loads of mods to download.

The silent treatment had evolved into being more selective. Specifically anything involving the letter ‘c’ and the number ’4′. Also any press of the shift key gets us stuck in shouting mode.

So my little laptop is going to visit the mac genius bar to see if anything can be done for it.

Last night I accidentally spilled a glass of water all over my laptop. It’s clearly not happy with me since today it refuses to acknowledge any key presses. I feel like I’m getting the silent treatment.

Hopefully after giving it a bit more time to dry out it will start registering my existence again.
