I think I’m just going to go ahead and call June my vacation from everything. Maybe I can catch up a bit. =P

Saddest Game Scene goes to Puzzle and Dragons

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

A little while ago I finished the 30 Days of Video games, twice. Despite needing 60 different topics to write about, I threw out quite a few of the original list’s topics, including “Saddest Game Scene”. Frankly I thought it was a silly topic, mostly because I couldn’t come up with one single example. Well none that didn’t make me want to snort derisively anyway.

But Puzzle and Dragons changed all that. Puzzle and Dragons has officially become my choice for this tragic topic. Behold:

Only one egg can drop in each wave, so that king dragon there isn't going to drop for me.

Only one egg can drop in each wave, so that king dragon there isn’t going to drop for me.

What makes this even more tragic is that is happens ALL THE TIME!

Oh and I just found this lovely image of a Super Metal Dragon not dropping for me. This ones a keeper for sure.

Happens on Super Kings also.

Happens on Super Kings also.

Makes me cry every time.  QQ

Surprise Zombicide Box

zombicide expansion box surprise girl characters image - token female gamer girl gamer woman gamer geek gamer nerd i love video gamesAs you might know, I kickstarted the cooperative board game Zombicide last year. (The title pretty much sums up the entire game play, survive the zombie attack; very entertaining.)

It had originally been scheduled for release sometime this year, but due to happy early production, I was one of the lucky recipients of the board game last September.

So when a package from the Zombicide team arrived in the mail last week, I was quite surprised. I had completely forgotten about all the Zombicide extras I had selected with my kickstarter pledge.

And this is why I will never be a litigious Kickstarter customer. Clearly micromanaging my pledges is not high on my priority list, but then I also don’t pledge a huge amount of money. Though I do like the happy surprise packages. Looking forward to many more of those. =D

As for the Zombicide package, its filled with new characters, lots of ladies as well as zombies. I’m looking forward to trying them out.

Burned

Tuesday, May 21st, 2013

Well, my previous post turned out to be more true then I expected. Puzzle and Dragons continues to keep me quite locked up. And true to form, after such a long binge, I am getting quite burned out, on everything video games.

I think it might be time for me to risk the outside world for a bit. So much to see after all, or so they tell me anyway.

Further proof that Puzzle and Dragons has taken over my life

puzzle and dragons log in day 100 bonus obsessed sigh - token female gamer girl gamer woman gamer geek gamer nerd i love gaming

This actually happened yesterday, but since it was already deemed Raptr anniversary, I decided to hold my PnD crazy until today.

100 consecutive log in days, sort of speaks for itself. I might as well just admit to having ever so slight of a Puzzle and Dragons obsession. Bonus was that they gave me 10 free magic stones, which I already spent. Nothing noteworthy.

It might be entertaining to muse about how my next PnD update will be on day 200, but it would all be lies. We all know that its a running Puzzle and Dragons commentary around here. I just can’t help myself and since its my blog, I can spew PnDness as much as I want. HA!

One year Raptr

TFG Raptr stats on May 8th 2013

As of today, I have officially been a Raptr member for an entire year. Though I originally created the account to help me keep track of game played times, and it does that decently well, its keeps track of all sorts of other useless information, like achievements and types of games played.

I have to admit I find the break downs of all my games quite fascinating. Not sure what it says about me, other then I have played a lot (a LOT) of World of Warcraft.

Turns out that I have played 1,128 hours of games in the past year, which is exactly 47 days. That’s quite a bit more then I expected. From what I can tell that encompasses 35 different games. Also more then I expected.

Maybe in the coming year I will finally use those game hours for something productive, like find a cure for boredom. Oh wait. Already did. Ha!

Gaming Convalescence

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

I’m finally feeling better, which means I’m semi productive in the real world instead of only being a computer game lump. Funny how most of my illnesses end up getting cured by playing lots of computer games, and maybe a little bit of sleep.

Since I missed it, happy belated May 4th (be with you), May 5th (Cinco de Mayo), and May Sith (revenge of). There, all caught up. =D

Game productivity, on the other hand, was high!

Puzzle and Dragons is Medicinal

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

I woke up this morning with a huge sore throat and simply stayed in bed for as long as I possibly could, abdicating all responsibility. But I couldn’t sleep, mostly because there is a huge Puzzle and Dragons special event going on this week and I HAVE PLANS! Thankfully Puzzle and Dragons is guaranteed to make me better (this statement has not be verified by the FDA). And yes I really am sick.

The event is the super awesome 20k Likes on FaceBook Community Appreciation event. Plus the Scotch Dragon for this week is Lagavulin, which I am totally not prepared for and now all week we have a special dungeon a day. No wonder I played all day. There is so much to do I could probably easily play all week. 120 hour marathon!

Geek and Sundry Season 2

Monday, April 29th, 2013

geek and sundry youtube channel your judgement is not my problem taking back the geek titel - token female gamer girl gamer woman gamer geek gamer nerd i love gamingIn other fabulous April news (quick before the month is over!), Geek and Sundry has  been renewed for season 2 and its already begun airing brand new shows!! The announcement went live very close to April 1st, thankfully it wasn’t a joke and Geek and Sundry will remain alive and youtubing for another year. (Yes, I just turned youTube into a verb!)

Much of the show line up has changed and though I’m sad to see Sword and Laser go, I am super happy that Space Janitors finally has new episodes. It is by far the most entertaining show I’ve seen on youTube, probably ever. Then again I don’t go in for most of the reality based stuff that youTube panders.

But the best thing to come out of this announcement was the message that Felicia Day shared in her announcement video. After lamenting the commodification and hate mongering that has become the Geek online life, she made a call for taking it back, to honor the Geek we want to be regardless of anyone else’s opinion. “Your Judgment is not my problem” sums is up quite well and is a sentiment that I can fully support. Go Felicia Day!

Studio Ghibli’s Live Action Short Film

Saturday, April 27th, 2013

The trailer for this short film, directed by Neon Genesis Evangelion‘s Shinji Higuchi, from Studio Ghibli aired last summer, but now we can actually watch the whole thing. It was announced not only as the company’s first foray into live action, but also as an attempt to capture an old style of Japanese kaiju filmmaking. Including: no CGI. The God Warriors are the ultimate danger in the world of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and they’re no less ominous for being placed in Tokyo. [via The Mary Sue]

A really stunning debut, I just wish I spoke Japanese.
