It’s only the beginning of the holiday season and I am already so burned out. This might have to do with the thirty some people that crammed into my very small place for thanksgiving. After that whole ordeal, I find myself in a motivational slump.

Which is terrible timing (learned my lesson, don’t invite 30 over and feed them!) It’s a busy time. Family obligations, various fairs to attend, and massive amounts of game releases make for very little extra downtime.

And then a new WoW patch was released. And Word of Warcraft is so easy; my husband plays, my characters are already established, our guild merged with another small one so more people are playing. It requires so little thinking and motivation from me, I just piggy back onto the husband’s schedule.

Turns out that I now find myself raiding three nights a week and gearing up two characters. (WoW took advantage of me in my moment of weakness!) Bit more then I was aiming for, but then I should know better. WoW has always sucked me in whole; I’m not so good at applying the whole ‘in moderation’ virtue to WoW.

But I have to say that the 4.3 Patch has made the game much more fun. By that I mean progression is possible, without agonizing grinding or learning curves.

Plus the new tier 13 Warlock set bonuses are awesome! This is probably the first time ever that I have actively wanted to complete a set bonus. Doomguard more often? Yes please!! No more Shard fussing? Finally!

~sigh~ World of Warcraft is like a pit of Quick Sand. Seems like I’m stuck here for a while and the more I struggle the worse it will be. Portal 2 will just have to wait a bit longer. Oh well.

My highest Words with Friends word yet! 153 points is not too shabby. =)

Played ‘Mistake’ my previous turn and thought myself quite clever as the word nestled right in between two Triple Word bonuses. My fabulous opponent didn’t take advantage, so I had the chance to play Zeps on the Triple Word bonus with the Z landing on a Triple Letter bonus.

Zep, BTW, is the name of a large sandwich, and yes I had to look it  up. =P

Guess its time for another Fantasy Football update. The news isn’t good.

My team is currently 2-9. That’s right, two wins, two losses. That puts me firmly at the bottom of my league’s pile. Though in my defense I do have the most points scored against me.

Take this past week for example. I scored 84 points, my opponent 115. Clear win, yet had I played almost anyone else in my league I would have won. The second highest score for the week was 90 points. Just my luck that on a poor scoring week I get to play the one exception. ~sigh~

So only three weeks left before Fantasy Football Playoffs. Since only the top 8 of 10 will make it, I am pretty sure that I have no chance.

Blizzard upped the deal on their annual World of Warcraft subscription. Not only a free copy of Diablo 3, but also a free Tyreal inspired mount. So I signed up for this. I do so like flying ponies!

And really when it comes down to it there was absolutely no reason not to do this. It is unlikely I will be canceling my accounts in the next six months and I was going to buy a copy of Diablo 3 anyway. Plus the whole thing is just an agreement, no upfront payment or anything.

All the time I already paid for still counts, which means I have just agreed to continue paying. Which I was going to be doing anyway. It is really almost too good to be true.

We have been watching the fourth season of Chuck (on DVD) and the amount of product placements is obscene. So I looked it up, since it really seemed a bit much. Turns out that the show had to create revenue in season three to stay on the air.

I’m happy that there is another season of Chuck, and its sort of entertaining how obvious they have made their plugs, but even I am feeling a bit dirty about the whole thing. I guess the actors and writers are just happy to still have a job. =/

Clearly the whole TV thing is breaking bit by bit and the fix isn’t here yet. I seriously hope that product placement is only a temporary solution.

Harnessing the combined star power of  Jonah Hill as the n00b and Sam Worthington as the Vet and packing it into thirty seconds of action, comedy, and redemption, make this the most deviously effective commercial I have seen in a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if MW3 sales double.

If I didn’t know better, I would want to go play the game. Sadly the game doesn’t come bundled with either Jonah or Sam. Bummer.

So I might have been a bit hasty in declaring all my Xbox problems solved. It turns out that the warranty is expired, which means it costs $99 to send it in to have fixed. Plus they dont guarantee anything. Red ring of death happens a month later, gotta pay another $99.

Our Xbox is like first generation 360. It’s huge, it’s loud, it’s old. Not really worth fixing.

But then the husband came back with this trick. (The multitap guys told me about it too, but I ignored them so husband gets full credit.) Wrap the whole console in towels to overheat it, thus rebooting the chip (or something like that anyway.) The video is a bit long and has strange filler, but I can tell you that it works. =)

Xbox is back to functioning, for a while anyway. Enough for me to at least get my saved game off the hard drive. But this means we will still eventually have to buy a new one. Now I just need to figure out what to get.

So according to the Xbox website, we have to send in our broken one to get it fixed. It takes about three weeks but hopefully this means we dont have to purchase a brand new one.

All good news! Only it will delay my finishing a few of the Xbox games I have laying around, like Portal 2. But Uncharted 3 came out today (PS3), which means my Xbox was going to be shelved for a while anyway.

Serendipity.

It’s official. The Xbox 360 is not coming back from the ring of death. A simple restart has ceased fixing that problem.

It’s good I have all this candy just laying around so I can drown my sorrows in chocolate.

And by sorrows I don’t mean mourning. I hate that stupid over priced, over hyped, noisy, and hugely fallible piece of crap machinery. No, I am sad about having to spend money on purchasing a brand new one so I can finish Portal 2.

Damn j00 Microsoft. ARG!!
