Hmm. I still think they are a couple. Just because Ganon tends to show up as well might help to define them, it certainly helps them find each other in each incarnation, but it isn’t part of the bond that ties them together. I like to think that they have had peaceful incarnations that we haven’t gotten to see because there was no Ganon that time around. The triforce is only used in times of dire need. =P

But really what I like about them is the scope of their connection. People talk about forever all the time, Zelda and Link are truly bound bound together forever.

Also, despite Zelda having such a strong place in my heart, I put Link & Zelda behind because they’re not a couple. They’re a threesome. (Okay, wrong word.) But Link & Zelda are defined not only by each other, but also by Ganon.

It is a TRIforce, after all.

Still it wasn’t my choice. My choice was a bit silly, and it isn’t even necessarily a romance. I chose Shepard and Garrus.

It’s a little goofy, but the banter between Shepard and Garrus during Mass Effect really made for an enjoyable side light to the action. Garrus is either just a good friend, an action buddy with whom Shepard can always rely on, not only for heavy fire support and quick witted banter between a former rival species, but serious calibration.

Okay, it’s a silly choice. But Commander Jenna Shepard romanced him and romanced him good – and I nearly lost my shit at “So, um, your hair is nice and your wrists are… supple.”

Garrus is just too awesome. <3
