So I’m playing Guild Wars 2
I’m quite surprised to say that I’m enjoying the experience. I’m actually having fun. Which is saying a lot since I was determined to not like it. Frankly I dont really have time to like it, since I’m still not done with Skyrim and Mists of Pandaria is coming out, but I just cant bring myself to quit.
My Mesmer character is almost level 17. Was a bit of a rough start as I dont think its the most straight forward class to play. Some of the weapon builds seem to be underpowered. But this is certainly part of the games biggest drawbacks, its really hard to figure out. Maybe in six months when there are four hundred websites dedicated to explaining the game it will be better, but for now, there is so little information in the game. It gets a bit frustrating.
As a little side note, I found this website Guild Wars 2 Girls, which is a place for ladies playing GW2 to hang out and commune with other ladies. Turns out that while there are lots of us who play, we are a bit scattered. I think its an interesting idea and as I haven’t really played with many ladies online, I’m looking forward to having the option to play with some other women who enjoy GW2. =D

Good luck finding more people to play with. If I had to guess what the website was about, that wouldn’t have been the first thing that popped into my head.

Yeah there has been a plethora of ladies using gaming for self promotion. But then T&A is a sure way to get attention. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of ladies out there who just like to play without needing attention.

I am loving the game as well but I have not been able to get into my Mesmer. What are you using to level up? I want to get into it because I love the idea of the class. And butterflies.

I think the mesmer class is a bit underpowered. If you can twink your mesmer I highly suggest you do. I am using a Greatsword and switching out with a staff. Both are decent leveling builds.
Also since you are on a different server I can’t play with you. Someone told me the server thing doesn’t matter, but it does!

I’ve been a little interested in the discussion that has come up re: feminism, gaming, and self promotion. I’ve seen a number of arguments that follow along the lines of this.
Picture 1: Sexy girl licking a controller
Caption 1: This is not a female gamer.
Picture 2: Strung out girl drinking mountain dew in the middle of the night trying to level her barbarian.
Caption 2: THIS is a female gamer.
But honestly, if girl #1 enjoys blasting away with a turtle while playing mariokart or something, I don’t see where the line really is.

Okay this is a rather lengthy discussion, but what it comes down to for me is that sexy girl licking a controller is not playing games. She is licking a controllers. This activity does not make her a gamer. The act of playing games does. What she looks like is almost completely irrelevant.

Wait a second, I thought you all hated it?! I find the game controls a bit clunky but I am enjoying it. Have you tried anything else? I personally hated the engineer but both other medium armor classes are ranged capable and quite fun.
What a surprise – I like playing a hunter…

I knew you would like the hunter. =P
And I never said I hated it, there are just things about it that drive me crazy.

I’ve actually finding that my mesmer feels better for me when i use Sword & Pistol. I pretty much just go down the line, 5, 4, 3, 2 to attack. I do like Staves though, I love the silly amount of buffs & debuffs that gives.
Still, guardian, and nobody is shocked. The torch is fun.

I do wish I could find some guides from players. Basically I want someone to do all the hard math so I can benefit!
I think being a guardian is a lot easier than the DPS classes. you get heals and defensive powers – makes a big difference.

I started a little hunter and OMG is it so OP compared to the mesmer.
I havn’t tried sword yet, but I really like the staff build and greatsword, mainly for easy illusion popping and get away from me skills. =D
Agree Terry, Elitist Jerks needs to help out here!

And I’m the one that hates it Terry. Hate.

I’m trying to convince him that its fun. He’s not buying. ~sigh~

But I thought that you hated pvp? Isn’t GW2 mostly a pvp game?
September 24th, 2012 at 8:26 pm
I’m pretty sure the end game is all PVP or WvW, but in GW2 they added lots of PvE leveling stuff. So its very likely that I will not be playing it for much longer. I doubt its longevity in my gaming line up. =P
