Oh I liked Journey, but the graphics didn't interface with the game play as brilliantly as Kirby. I think Journey would have been in the best game play category, but I took that out. =D

Fair enough on Doom. It was a step in the mind blowing direction, but again it was simply about pretty pictures and incredible math.

Not even a mention for Journey? That is shocking ;)

Best graphics of all time (at the time of the game creation): Doom

Never before had a game created so much realism and atmosphere. I remember actually jumping in my chair as I came around a dark corner and came face to face with some demon. It was the Star Wars of video games. Something so visually advanced, it changed gaming forever.

One of the big reasons I chose Kirby was that the graphics were so much more then just graphics. There were an active part of the game. While I agree that Skyrim did a great job of being realistic and open worldy, that is not really what makes graphics interesting for me. In Skyrim the graphics managed to just not get in the way. Which is still quit a feat.

I haven't played Okami yet, but I bet I would also put it on my list as the graphics seem to be unique in visuals and game play.

Also Limbo. While I didn't really enjoy the constant death that the game required, it did have interesting graphics which were an integral part of the game play.

Wow, that Skyrim one is surprising. I've always viewed it as one in a growing group of grey/brown "realistic" color palettes that just don't appeal to me.

Kirby and Wind Waker are solid, in my opinion. I'd also throw in Okami and Prince of Persia (reboot on 360). Maybe Madworld too.

Interesting choice, but I've never played it so I can't really comment on it. :p

I chose Skyrim for this one. Seemed a no brainer considering that when one thinks about what Skyrim got right, art/atmosphere is always near the top. They did such a great job capturing the rugged, wild feel of this forbidding, cold land.

And even though it got a lot of flak - I really liked Wind Waker. It was adorable..
