not as good as an iPad…
Lots of traveling going on the past month, much of it spent in an airplane. My most recent flight, I had my DS, my iPhone, and my laptop out, but couldn’t help but be jealous of the guy sitting accross the aisle with his iPad. Dumb name, great device.
Much of my flight was spent peeking over his shoulder as he played something. Didn’t care what really, just that he could. /sigh
Will be home again next week. Guess what my very first item of business will be?
Thats right, I’m going to sleep in my own bed. (And get an iPad!)

I have really enjoyed having a kindle with me on the plane. My brother gave me his old one so it’s still the smaller black and white one, which works just fine for me. I can usually go through 4-5 books on a typical trip to and from the East Coast, so being able to fit in a dozen or more books on one device is great. I imagine the iPad would be equally good for that and the option of playing games and watching movies (I think it can) would be nice. Let me know what you think. Peter saw his co-worker’s iPad and was very underwhelmed, but I don’t know if he would use it the way you would.

I’ve been kind of interested in an e-reader. They are really great for what they’re designed for. That E Ink technology is so cool. The problem is figuring out which dedicated reader to buy.
I think once the “ooh, a new shiny” wears off, more people will start bitching about iPads as the inferior devices they are. Don’t do it, D! Your laptop is far superior in almost every aspect. Don’t do it!!

Well I have been interested in an e-reader as well. Not sure how the iPad would hold up as one. I dont particularly like reading on my laptop and am thus assuming the iPad will not be much different. Then again its far better carrying a rather slim iPad around then the twenty books I would like too, especially on a trip.
The thing is, I seriously doubt I would forsake my laptop/iphone/DS for the iPad. It would just be another awesome something to play with. Which is the main reason I havn’t already gotten one. Haven’t quite been able to justify purchasing yet another doodad.

It is said a new doodad is its own justification. Thus spake the super guru.
