Happy Halloween!

halloween 2013 king of tokyo expansion image - token female gamer girl gamer woman gamer geek gamer nerd gaming loveHave a wonderful Halloween, filled with lots of games and candy. Can’t forget the candy. =D

This little Halloween edition is the latest King of Tokyo boardgame expansion. Quite cute really and since its been pretty boardgame heavy at our house of late, it seemed like a good halloween share.

Okay, trick or treating done, now back to watching Arrow. Not bad so far.

Looked like you had a fun costume! Did you do Dia de los Muertos also? I did that one year and it was really enjoyable.

I couldn’t do Arrow… tried and couldn’t make it through the first episode. Enjoying Tomorrow People, Sleepy Hollow and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland though. Trying to stick with Agents of SHIELD but the zero chemistry between the actors and horrible plots are making it tough going. Still love Coulson but that’s about all I have.

I haven’t tried Shield yet, mostly because I dont have cable thus only watch stuff much much after the fact. =P
Havn’t seen any of the other shows. Maybe will try when they show up on Netflix. =D

Yeah my costume was rather last minute. Worked out well and kids actually recognized me. Didn’t do Dia de los Muertos though. Too pooped. I’m gettin old. =(

I can’t say I really recommend SHIELD. I loved the first episode, but the subsequent eps have been a real let-down. It’s not on cable, btw, it’s a network show on ABC.

Tomorrow People is on the CW and is full of pretty people and teen angst, just like every CW show ever. It surprised me by going ever so slightly more complex with some of the plot choices than I was expecting. I’m not saying you can’t see them coming from a mile away but instead of going for the 1st cliche that comes to mind, they sometimes pick the second cliche. That’s deep for the CW.

Sleepy Hollow is fun for the fact that the star is a petite female cop. I like that. And she has good chemistry with her co-star. It’s nothing mind-blowing but it’s surprisingly solid and they sneak in the occasional bit of snarky or silly history-geek humor. Like Ichabod’s rant about sales taxes.

I could not get into the first Once Upon a Time, the lead female was such a dud and the plots were painful. But this “spin off” has been a ton of fun. It’s a mashup of Alice in Wonderland and Aladdin, and so far it’s working for me. Super cheese, but the actors really commit to their roles which gives it some heft that balances out the fluff.

Instead of those shows, have you seen Continuum? It’s streaming on Netflix. Time travel female cop. So far, pretty good. Very sci-fi time-paradox-y. I’ve been tickled pink by the fact that there are tons of asians and part-asians in it. I guess that there must be a lot of asian actors in Vancouver (where it films)? It’s sorta like Quantum Leap but with a woman instead of a guy.

Hmmm, yeah I have heard similar stuff about Shield. I hope it finds its footing.

Looking out for Sleepy Hollow once it makes it to Netflix. Have not tried Continum yet, but its on the list. We just started watching Haven on Netflix. Decent.

TV has been rather disappointing of late. =/

    My current TV watching is:
Sleepy Hollow, Arrow, and Once Upon a Time. Everything else just fills the time while I’m waiting for new episodes of Dr. Who.

I binged on Haven, and now its the fourth season of White Collar. Waiting for the 3rd season of Games of Thrones. =D
