Heroes of Metro City – A Super-Powered Deck Building Game!

Behold the newest Kickstarter I threw money at. In their words: “Be the Hero — defeat the Archenemy before Metro City is destroyed! Choose your own combination of super-power cards as you play.”

Basically it is a super hero game that uses deck building for powers, to represent Enemies, and for resources. This really sounds like it could be a fun and interesting card game, but what I like about it most is that it is cooperative. Super Hero Team game; each game will require a super hero team name, official house rule!

Another little tidbit that caught my eye was that they are building quite a bit of randomness into the game. Though players get to chose some of their powers, random ones will be assigned. Could be quite entertaining to figure out how to make various powers work well together.

Something to look forward too, especially since the project is already fully funded. Anything extra at this point is just gravy.

I am often leery of Kickstarter. It seems to me that based on the insane amount of money that Order of the Stick generated that there’d be a lot of people going, oh sweet, if I have some good marketing skills, I should throw something up on Kickstarter.

Yup and that could very well become the downfall of kickstarter. But here is the thing, you dont have to donate. =)
I found that I am more likely to donate to things that are very close to being done or are already done. Or I support highly reputable folks like Double Fine, as fans would crucify them if they screwed up.
Plus a lot of times I support someone for the rewards. But so far I haven’t had to demand my money back. =)
