Elite Beat Agents Review (DS)

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Elite Beat Agents is a perfect example of the greatness that can come out of Japan, especially when they let their kooky side shine.

A rather eccentric little rhythm game, that showcases around twenty easily recognizable and entertaining songs. These are cleverly paired with strangely appropriate stories, which revolve around people in need. Once these folks are identified and their need quantified, the Elite Beat Agents are sent in to dance their way to a fabulous solution.

not as good as an iPad…

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Lots of traveling going on the past month, much of it spent in an airplane. My most recent flight, I had my DS, my iPhone, and my laptop out, but couldn’t help but be jealous of the guy sitting accross the aisle with his iPad. Dumb name, great device.

Much of my flight was spent peeking over his shoulder as he played something. Didn’t care what really, just that he could. /sigh

Will be home again next week. Guess what my very first item of business will be?

Thats right, I’m going to sleep in my own bed. (And get an iPad!)

Brag Worthy

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Some people have fancy cars or big houses, some have fine clothes and jewelry, but when we have company over, my point of pride is always our game closet.

I have this pattern with guests and it goes something like this: welcome welcome, greeting at the door, rush through living area, kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom, and then finally our game closet! When I open the door, I envision a choir of angels singing, the clouds parting and rays of light illuminating the fabulousness that is the game closet. (Note to self: figure out way to hook up audio and lights to game closet door.)

April Reading List

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Serial April challenge.
Goal: Read a book from 10 different series.

Last months challenge worked out better than I expected. In fact this whole read 100 books by the end of the year thing is going really well also. Currently I have read 41 books in 2010. At this rate I could hit 150 by the end of the year.

But down to business. Here is my list of books for the month. Let the fluff reading begin!

Weekend of Wonder…Con

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

WonderCon was indeed this past weekend, an event that completely snuck up on me. Then again I’m terrible at planning for these things, which is probably one of the reasons I have been unable to make it to ComicCon the past few years. (If you don’t get a hotel room within the first hour that the phone lines open up, you are so out of luck!)

Thankfully WonderCon (the con of wonders and delights) is hosted near enough to home that a simple reminder from my husband the week before the event is plenty of notice to assure my attendance.

Just one of the many reasons that I love WonderCon. =)

Ada Lovelace Day!

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Its amazing to see what incredible work Ada Lovelace actually did. Imagine all the struggles she must have endured to even be heard. Imagine if more women had had her opportunities.

Thankfully, women now a days get far more encouragement from society. =)

Dedicating a day to all the women that have made the path into technology easier for each generation to come is a wonderful idea. They should all be celecreated, espcially Ada who as the very first programmer is a littler nearer and dearer to my heart.

Happy Ada Lovelace Day!

Love is in the Air…really!

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

It has been pointed out to me that the “weekly wow woes” rants are making it seem like I am not enjoying myself and should probably just quit (WoW).

So I am here to debunk that theory and what better week to do that in then the Valentines World Event Week (or two).

Sure there are things about World of Warcraft that bug the shit out of me, but in the end it comes down to this: I really have a good time playing.

Really if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be playing anymore. =D

Happy Heart Week. <3

Feb Book List!!

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

January was a rousing success! Read all ten of my books, plus three more, and a few manga thrown in for good measure!

I finished early in Jan, mainly because of the moving. Now I’m into February (three days in already), ten books in a paltry 28 days, and I cant even find my books. Oh they are here somewhere, in a box. Should have been more worried about Feb. Going to have to cram to finish this month. Oh well.

Read a book by the following:
1. A Favorite Author – Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh
2. An Author that is “new” to you – Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
3. An Author you had given up before but willing to give a second chance – Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
4. A GoodReads Author – Light my Fire by Katie MacAlister
5. An Author born/died in the same year as you – (1977) Hex by Rhiannon Lassiter
6. An Author whose first or last name starts with the initial of your first name – (D) Undead and Unreturnable by Mary Janice Davidson
7. An Author whose first or last name starts with the initial of your last name – (B) The Invisible Ring by Anne Bishop

Moved!

Monday, February 1st, 2010

All moved into our new place. Well, all of our stuff is now out of the old and in the new, but nothing has actually found its final resting place. =P

Saw this the other day, and though I don’t link things very often, it just cracked me up. Love Mortal Kombat!

World of Warcraft – Wrath of the Lich King Review (PC, Mac)

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

The second expansion for World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King (WotFK), graced us with its presents a mere year and ten months after the last expansion. (Woot! Our wait was cut by four months!)

Feature wise, it was very similar to the previous expansion, a new continent to explore, new higher levels to reach, more quests, more dungeons, and more loot. They even added a brand new class to play.

And yet, WotLK has been the more successful expansion. Clearly a lot was learned from the previous two games, because they somehow managed to keep and fine tune features that worked well while weeding out most of the irritating bits.

But not all the features are recycled, loads of new ones joined the frey, seamlessly blending new and old. A few of the most notable additions being: achievements and vehicle-combat.
