The Secret to Trashy TV – Use it for Good.

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Most gaming television shows are rather trashy, but I have recently discovered a new low, the gaming competition reality show. I realize that I’m a bit late to the party as these shows have been around for a while, but realty TV is something I usually avoid like the plague, so bear with me.

I learned about them when I was looking up information on pro female gamers and these shows have quite a few lady gamers participating each season. Since I’m always interested in seeing more ladies gaming, I couldn’t help checking them out.

Online Gems

Well I have certainly put this one off for long enough. Here goes, the selection is a bit extensive. Sorry, time got away from me.

Also Facebook has been overloaded with Political hype (at least my friends list) so the pickings have become slim to non. Thus I’ve branched out. Moving from Facebook into the wide open internetz.

The Daly Show #7 The Daly Superheroes. Voice over problems.  HILARIOUS! Nathan Fillian and Michael Rosenbaum guest appearances.

Mario Themed love song. My kinda love song. Music and Lyrics by Sam Hart. Super Cute.

‘David Duchovney why won’t you love me??’ An oldy but goody. The video brings back so many X-Files memories.

Photoshop by Adobe – the Industry Standard. Spoof commercial with some astute commentary on our beauty standards.

Archetype – Preview. Amazing effort for an production with no budget. Looks like all the web love this has been getting has made someone in Hollywood pay attention. Might be on the big screen soon!

Portal ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ song. What an appropriate cross over.

Ferris Bueller Honda Commercial – Homage to the 80s movie. Superbowl commercial.

‘Best Game Ever’ song. We have all played with that someone like that. Its a little shouty but the lyrics are spot on.

Adds or Chuck?

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

We have been watching the fourth season of Chuck (on DVD) and the amount of product placements is obscene. So I looked it up, since it really seemed a bit much. Turns out that the show had to create revenue in season three to stay on the air.

I’m happy that there is another season of Chuck, and its sort of entertaining how obvious they have made their plugs, but even I am feeling a bit dirty about the whole thing. I guess the actors and writers are just happy to still have a job. =/

Clearly the whole TV thing is breaking bit by bit and the fix isn’t here yet. I seriously hope that product placement is only a temporary solution.

Advertising at its finest

In case you havn’t seen the new Modern Warfare 3 ad -  ‘The Vet & The n00b’, here is the youtube link. Really worth watching!

Harnessing the combined star power of  Jonah Hill as the n00b and Sam Worthington as the Vet and packing it into thirty seconds of action, comedy, and redemption, make this the most deviously effective commercial I have seen in a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if MW3 sales double.

If I didn’t know better, I would want to go play the game. Sadly the game doesn’t come bundled with either Jonah or Sam. Bummer.
