500 Post Updates

Saturday, January 5th, 2013

Keeping on track with ‘Another 30 days of Video Games’ took rather a lot of focus, pairing that with the holidays meant that there wasn’t a lot of spare time for various other updates. Plus it seemed so much more cohesive to keep the posts contiguous. Thus this update post, starting with Happy Winter Holidays. (Yes its a little late, sorry.)

My end of season fantasy football team.

My end of season fantasy football team.

Another big marker, that I completely spaced on, is that I hit 500 posts! Well actually this will be the 506th, which makes the 500th post day 56 in my last thirty days. That’s a lot, and frankly I’m quite proud of myself.

On a slightly less heroic note, Fantasy Football finished a few weeks ago and though I made the play offs, my team ended up seventh out of eight. So many injuries and I could not get quality players to replace them. But I was in second place for a bit, there in the middle of the season. Woot!

And lastly, World of Warcraft raiding has begun. Thankfully its only one day a week so far, but filled with lots of dying and a little bit of success. We are running Mogu’Shan Vaults 10 player normal. Its been an interesting shift in strategy. Many of the fights really depend heavily on tank competence, while the rest of us merely need to not stand in shit.

I guess I’m not really sure why they decided to make tank raiding harder. Were tanks bored?  Aren’t they one of the fewest played classes in the game? Making it harder doesn’t seem to really be the answer to dwindling numbers. I don’t play a tank, and after raiding in Panda for a bit, I’m really glad that I’m sticking with DPS. Easy mode!

Thats it for now. I’m sure I will come up with some other stuff eventually. Oh, maybe some shots of dead WoW raid bosses. =P

Football and Turkey!

Thursday, November 22nd, 2012

Ah the annual day of turkey and football, also known as Thanksgiving Day. Probably my favorite holiday of the year. Mostly because of the great food and fabulous people; the football is really just something that also happens. It did mean managing my Fantasy Football lineup as well as cooking a bunch of food.

How has my lineup been doing? Kicking ass! My team is currently in second place as of the end of week 11 (last weekend).

My Gaggle of Ganders Team in second place!!

One of the reasons my team has been doing so well it because of Doug Martin. Not only has he been a pretty consistent scorer, but he busted out on week 9 with 251 yards rushing and four touchdowns, earning a total of 48.99 points.

My other ace in the hole is Rob Gronkowski. He is an incredible tight end and just racks up the points. Sadly he broke his arm this past weekend, yet still managed to score two touch downs. Will be a huge loss for my team to have him out for pretty much the rest of fantasy football. =(

The good news is that his replacement, while not nearly as good, did just fine today. Jason Witten manged some points, which is more then most other TEs. But my teams big contributor for the day is New England’s Defense, with a whopping 25 points!

Been a good day, good food, good people, good defense. Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! <3

SF Giants Win the World Series

Monday, October 29th, 2012

Last night the Giants won the fourth game of the 2012 World Series against the Tigers. And though they were playing in Detroit for the win, when that last strike was called, the city of San Francisco erupted with celebration.

It would have been fun to have them win here at home, but one can’t complain too hard as they swept the Tigers with apparent ease. What a fabulous play off season for this incredible Giants team. They made it quite clear that the best team won.

GO GIANTS! <3

Giants Fever

Thursday, October 25th, 2012

Just want to take a moment to say GO GIANTS!! These play offs have been incredibly fun to watch. Six play off games, edge of the seat the entire time, decisive victories, just great all around baseball.

And the first game of the World Series was even better. Underdog Giants go in and kick some serious ass, besting one of the best pitchers in baseball, Verlander. Blew his ERA right out of the water.

Win or lose, its been a really fun ride. But its not over yet, so GO San Francisco GIANTS!!

Football is back, in fantasy land

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

My Fantasy Football league’s draft went through and I forgot to set my line up. Oh there was plenty of warning, lots of emails sent out about how it was going to happen soon, or how it was going to happen that night. I still didn’t set it, totally my fault.

But it looks like I didn’t do too badly, especially considering that I had last pick this year. Yup, last out of twelve. Either everyone else set their draft up horribly or I just got lucky. Then again I haven’t seen the team play yet. I might not feel so lucky in a few weeks after I have traded my entire starting team away.

BTW, I am always open to football advice. Though I really enjoy Fantasy Football and watching the games and so forth, I have found that I lack the required time and drive to play shrewdly. I tend to rely more on luck. Not such a bad strategy either, as it has worked quite well in the past. Though I will add that my team does tend to perform better the more I keep abreast of RL football.

Final Fantasy Football 2011

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

It’s time for the Fantasy Football playoffs, for the rest of the folks in my league anyway. That’s right, I finished LAST!
An abysmal year for me. My worst yet! Ah well, lesson learned. Put a bit more time into it. =P

Not so Fantasy Football

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

Guess its time for another Fantasy Football update. The news isn’t good.

My team is currently 2-9. That’s right, two wins, two losses. That puts me firmly at the bottom of my league’s pile. Though in my defense I do have the most points scored against me.

Take this past week for example. I scored 84 points, my opponent 115. Clear win, yet had I played almost anyone else in my league I would have won. The second highest score for the week was 90 points. Just my luck that on a poor scoring week I get to play the one exception. ~sigh~

So only three weeks left before Fantasy Football Playoffs. Since only the top 8 of 10 will make it, I am pretty sure that I have no chance.

Poot!

Not my Fantasy Football

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

If this were Football in my fantasy world, my team would be scoring better (shocking, I know!). But alas I have to share with everyone in my league and thus have to play ‘fair’. (Poot!) I should really reclassify it as Horror Football, as that would be far more accurate to my current experience. =P

Currently my team is 1-4 and that is with me switching people around. Picked up Eli Manning (who did awesome this week!) and Jermaine Gresham who is better than my old TE.

Not that any of that matters as my opponents seem to be rolling in the luck. Last week my opponent played Aaron Rodgers, you know the week that Mr Rodgers essentially played the entire offensive side by himself, with 408 yards passing, 4 passing touch downs, and 2 rushing touchdowns. Ridiculous. Aaron Rodgers alone almost outscored my entire team last week.

This week I had such high hopes. And I was doing great, ten points ahead by the end of Sunday. We both have one team member to go. Tight End vs Line Backer, could have gone either way. Monday night, I loose by three points. =(

And so I am 1-4. Horrific. ~sigh~

I have a Win!

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Finally a win in Fantasy Football. The previous two weeks were dismal. Really poor showing with almost the lowest scoring team both weeks. And then week 3 breaks through like a kick return for a touch down!

Fantasy Football is back!! I might actually pay attention to my team again.

Matt Schaub, even though he lost, still threw for 373 yards and 3 touchdowns. Mike Wallace managed 144 recieving yards and a touchdown. And the fabulous New York defense sacked the QB twice and intercepted the ball 3 times, all while only allowing 16 points to be scored on them.

Go team! Ra Ra!

Fantasy Football of doooooom!

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Week one of Fantasy Football is over and my opponent had the highest score in the league. Its not looking so good for me this year.

(>_<)

Behold my starting line up. For this past weekend anyway. My team is far to mediocre for this line up to remain.

QB – Matt Schaub
WR – Mike Wallace
WR – DeSean Jackson
RB – Chris Johnson
TE – Kellen Winslow
W/R – Maurice Jones-Drew
K – Stephen Gostkowski
DEF – New York
D – Shaun Smith

Weak links currently are Quarter Back, Defensive player and Running Backs. Tight End isn’t so hot either, but its a low scoring position. Don’t think there is anything I can do about QB since all the good ones are taken already.
Time to find new players. Any good ones out there?
