Initially I held back seeing this movie because I was a little worried that they might have taken a more serious story route post 9/11. As it so happens I had nothing to worry about. Thankfully a good friend of mine demanded I see it with him for his birthday. The previous Die Hard movies had been fun, extreme, silly, and lighthearted and this latest installment continues this really enjoyable trend.
For full enjoyment, leave your brain at home. The plot holes in this movie might only be dwarfed by its excessive violence. A good example of this is McClain’s latest and greatest choice in weapons: vehicles.
In movies like this, none of the bad guys actually make it to jail. The good guys are good and the bad guys are very very bad. No fuzzy grey middle ground. The hero triumphs over the villain, almost dying in the process of course. The amount of blood that McClain looses by the end of the movie would cause an elephant to pass out, just like in the first three movies. Can’t have him squeaky clean.
Quite entertaining!
I would like to send a shout out to Justin Long who played the geeky sidekick. He did a fabulous job yet again.
Lesson to be learned: the car is mightier then the helicopter.

I liked Live Free or Die Hard too. It was fun, and just that. I think my favorite parts were McClain’s comments while either being beaten up, or while beating up someone else. Or just after.
You have a crush on Justin Long?
