Top Five Online Game Videos
Since my last top five list revealed the serious lack of quality in game to movie adaptations, I thought I would follow up with some great online material.
While there are a ton of game related videos out on the web, it has been challenging to find the ones of higher quality. All of these were given to me via web word of mouth, aka group emails.
Be warned, some of these are not kid or workplace friendly.
* Tom et ses chums! Farador D&D
A guy returns to his old D&D group to hang out, drink beer and catch up, only to find that they play “serious” D&D, where such things as drinking and chatting are frowned upon. Hilarity commences.
Split into two videos, French with English subtitles.
Note: this is not suitable for children or (most) work environments.
* Summoner Geeks
The graphics on this video short are from the game Summoner while the script and voices are from a group called the Dead Ale Wives.
This video was released as a promotion for Summoner, but has stayed around more for its own merits then the game it was intended to promote. And while the game was forgettable the D&D skit that is this videos basis is a pricless D&D lampoon.
* The Guild
The guild has become a huge success in the past year, so successful in fact that it has been funded for multiple seasons to come. It’s amazing to see an online sitcom do so well, especially one based on MMORPGs. =D
Sitcom is an apt name for this series. The jokes stay on the obvious side and tend to focus around the characters involved instead of the game experience. It’s truly gaming comedy for the casual gamer.
* IGN’s April Fool’s 2008: Legend of Zelda Movie Trailer Debut
The title really sums this video up. I have to admit that when I watched this, a small part of me hoped it wasn’t an April fools joke after all. No matter how cheesy a Zelda movie turned out to be, I am sure I would love it anyway. =)
* Doomsday Arcade
This is a video saga for the truly hardcore. The jokes are many and sometimes quite obscure. But if you are geeky enough to get the jokes, it’s well worth watching.
Did I miss any?

There is the Legend of Neil…

It goes rather quickly down the not-safe-for-work rabbit hole.

Good call! Though I have only seen the first episode of this series. Something I should remedy.
