I’m sure everyone under the sun (or should I say hiding from the sun) has seen this already, but I just couldn’t refrain from posting it. Simply because its AWESOME!
It turned out to be an add campaign for season three of The Guild. As far as advertisement goes, I found this music video to be not only effective but also extremely enjoyable. =)
(Its not that often that I actually enjoy an advertising campaign. In general I find most advertisements to be more of an unwelcome intrusion.)
Besides Felicia Day wrote the lyrics (and sings) and they are hilarious, especially if you have ever played on an MMO.

If the first movie was an aphrodisiac, then this sequel is laughing gas – riding high while laughing all the way.
It’s definitely a solid addition to the franchise and ultimately reminded me more of the TV show then its predecessor. Lot more humor, big action, and Optimus starting and ending the movie with his usual monologue.
Plot wise there are holes the size of Bumblebee, but I attribute those to authenticity and filled in the blanks myself. =)
In fact there quite a few of the plot lines reminded me of the first movie and I am tempted to say they just added material to the first script, but the run time for each movie is the same. I think its more likely that this was a previous version of the first movie script that got a bunch of extras added to it.

This review is long overdue and is now being rushed out in honor of the sequel (which I hope to go see in the theater soon!) It is also dedicated to my friend Pat, who is horrified by the fact that I love this movie (and will NOT let me forget it!)
I saw this both in the theater and on DVD (which I own and have watched multiple times). The full wall-to-wall screen is by far the more exciting experience, but watching it in the privacy of my own home is vastly more comfortable. =D

It’s been two weeks and I can’t seem to get anything done for the site. I sit and sit and stare at the computer and play WoW. (Of course I’m still playing World of Warcraft!)
But really I can’t blame WoW for my lack of posting, because I was in full throttle WoW mode long before my writer’s block showed up. (In fact it’s taken me five days just to write this little blurb.)
I blame Sookie and Elf Porn.

I had to wait until the second (SECOND!) weekend to go see this. Agony, I tell you, complete agony.
So I exaggerate a bit, but I was excited to finally go see it. Especially since the last movie my husband and I went to see together had been Transformers (that’s right, summer 2007!).
It was well worth the wait. I laughed, I cried, but most importantly I left the theater feeling elated.
Lost of people are calling this movie a reboot to the franchise and I will have to agree with them. Although the way they went about it was probably the most typical sci-fi plot device in the movie. Never the less the movie was less about plot (which was a bit weak)and more about the characters and bringing them all together.

Since my last top five list revealed the serious lack of quality in game to movie adaptations, I thought I would follow up with some great online material.
While there are a ton of game related videos out on the web, it has been challenging to find the ones of higher quality. All of these were given to me via web word of mouth, aka group emails.
Be warned, some of these are not kid or workplace friendly.

While Uwe Boll has garnered game to movie adaptations a horrible reputation, there are in fact a few movies about games that have managed to not offend, even entertain.
And though Mr. Boll can be attributed with the most recent epidemic of terrible remakes, the trend was set long before. Super Mario Bros anyone? In a way he is really just carrying on a long-standing tradition.
Actually there are more game related movies then I realized. This is a decent list. I’m not sure how complete it is, what I can say is that most of the game movies that I have seen are on it.
Some of these movies found their way into my favorite pile and that’s what this is really all about.
I should mention that I chose these movies not for their award worthiness or for their ability to bring about world peace. They managed to sneak into my top five because I enjoyed watching them. And lets not forget that the genre is sparse on quality, thus expectation is brought down a lot (a LOT).

Listen up boys and girls, the geek powers-that-be have finally listened and made a geek girl’s dream movie. They took a decent script, predictable plot and then filled in all the gaps with incredibly good looking men – who seem to be clothes free for a lot of the time.
Hugh Jackman (or as my friend called him Hugh I-want-to-jack-you-off-man!) does an excellent job of looking good naked and his acting isn’t bad either. He is joined by a bevy of beautiful men that seem to enjoy being super human as Gambit, Sabertooth, Deadpool, and Agent Zero all have formidable parts.
While I would not call this a fabulous movie it is quite entertaining. The script keeps the story moving along and doesn’t let it bog down too much in the mire of Wolverine’s pouting. And the predictability is expected since Wolverine’s origin story can only be stretched so far.
Solid three mushrooms, well worth the matinee price!!

I have to say I was skeptical at best about this movie. Thus I have studiously avoided all information about it.
But after having finally broken down and watched all the trailers, I have to say I’m getting excited. One of my ever so rare movie nights just might have to be dedicated to this one!

It’s amazing how much the game industry has ceded control of their IP to various non-game people. I’m sure this movie could have been better had there been more interest in protecting the Dungeon Siege Intellectual Property.
Hopefully soon the industry will catch on. The comic book companies certainly have, but then they have had more time to wise up.

A friend reluctantly loaned me this movie. At first he was flabbergasted that I would want to see it and warned me of its loathsomeness. He finally agreed, and with a its-your-funeral shrug abdicated all responsibility.
There is a small place in my heart reserved just for bad fantasy movies. My collection of them is small but dear. This movie is not only fantasy, but is also based on a computer game I had played. It had to be given a chance.
