DS Mini Review Month

One objective of mine, when I move, has always been to purge as much stuff as possible. As it seems to accumulate faster than I can find room for it, I have to preempt whenever I can.

My latest project, regarding the whole moving into our new place, is going through all the games, specifically the DS games. Turns out we have quite a few that are clearly just taking up space. Purge time!

The plan for this month is to write as many mini reviews of my stack of DS games as I can. I’m certain there are more than enough to keep me busy. Plus once I have reviewed them I will have no more excuses to hold on to them.

Hi! Both Keoki (aka Sappora) and I have a DS so if you have any you’d recommend we try out, please let us know! I don’t tend to play much on my DS, but we have some trips coming up so I’m sure some games would be very welcome. Especially for Keoki . I tend to like puzzle games like Brain Age and simple games like MySims. I am curious about things like Professor Layton and Scribblenauts (although I think, from your review, I’d find it as frustrating as you did). Keoki likes rpgs and more action-y/strategy games.

Oooooh I have a ton just sitting around. You are more then welcome to borrow some of them!! Of course it also depends on what sorts of games you like. =D

    AND, thanks for commenting! <3

Mostly simple games for me- I’m a gamer lite. On the Wii, the games I love best are Elebits, De Blob, Lego Star Wars, most party games like Wii Sports and Super Monkey Ball, and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. The last may seem like an outlier but it’s not really- I like blowing stuff up, I’m just not any good at moving and aiming at the same time. RE:UC, being a cooperative rail shooter, means I don’t actually have to be any good if my partner is skilled. I just get to blow up zombies occasionally with a shotgun (whee!) while Keoki does the heavy lifting. I like RPGs but because of the time investment, I tend to not finish them. I’ve started several games and am only partway through them because I started something else and then never went back to finish them. If we had a PS2 I would play Katamari Damacy. I am still intending on finishing Portal for the Xbox 360 because I know the end scene is awesome. But I get motion sick really easy and I can’t finish the last few levels without making myself ill. I like the puzzle aspect of Portal very much though, so I’ll finish it eventually. I don’t like turn based strategy games generally.

Obviously Keoki’s a far more experienced gamer. He seems to enjoy just about any type of game except puzzle games and simple games. Basically he plays everything but the stuff I like :D

The only thing neither of us play are sports simulation games like Major League Baseball or NFL. I do like Wii Sports, but that is really not the same thing at all.

I would guess that you could throw just about anything non-sports our way and more than likely one of us would be interested in at least trying it. Thanks!

I thought I’d logged in to comment before but apparently not- how silly of me!

Hmmm, well I’m not a huge sports fan either. I do like strategy though. One thing you might like is Final Fantasy 3 for the DS. They remastered the old game and ported it to the DS. Nice thing about that is its really portable thus you can play it anywhere and are not committed to playing it only at home, plus FF is turn based which makes pausing easy easy.
Will have to look through the rest. I’m sure there are quite a few that you guys would like. =D
