They invited me back for the podcast, suckers! Muaahahahhahaha! They being the guys (and gal) over at theMultitap.com.

Go listen, http://themultitap.com/?p=774, but remember NSFW. (Possibly NSFB either.)

And for the record I do not endorse anyone’s opinion but my own! Don’t get paid nearly enough for that. =P

Names Matter – some more!

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

This whole name thing has been on my mind a lot. Much can be conveyed in a name; especially in online situations where they are often the first impressions others will have of us.

This is particularly true in a game like World of Warcraft, where the name choice is one of the only character customizations allowed.

Here a name becomes a way to stand out and be unique, a way for people to remember and recognize each other. This name represents us in the game!

Which is why I am surprised when people pick such terrible names. Strangely enough these poorly chosen names still tend to be pretty accurate personality wise, but I would think people would want to put their best foot forward and not necessarily announce their asshole status to the world.

There are of course plenty of inconspicuously named characters that turn out to be dicks and assholes, but why advertise?

Hanging with Friends Review (iPhone)

Friday, July 8th, 2011

With Zynga’s purchase of the Words with Friends title, it was only a matter of time before the onslaught of ‘with friends’ titles began. I am positive that ‘Hanging with Friends’ is mainly the flagship, the forerunner in the ‘with Friends’ campaign that Zynga will launch on the social and mobile networks. Quantity over quality does seem to be their modus operandi.

But my Words with Friends devotion overshadowed any Zynga concerns and so I tried the new Hanging with Friends.

WWF highlights

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Lots of Words with Friends lately. Somehow a bunch of friends have found on me on the WWF. Or maybe the word has gotten around that I’m an easy win. I blame Facebook. =P

Thought I would share a few highlights.

One sort of strategy that I mostly aim for is trying to garner as many points for as few letters as possible (small words are flat out easier to find). Love the symmetry on the OX play and 54 points for two little letters. Not my move, but worthy of a mention, because really two letter move for 54 points!!!

Some of my favorite shorts have been “wit” for 48 points, ‘jam’ for 45, ‘chef’ for 76, and ‘goes’ for 63. Thats right people, not a single Q or Z to be found. =D

Words with Frienemies

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

Beware what information you share with your Words with Friends opponents, they may find occasion to KCUF you.

<<—- My latest WWF game is proof. Trusting little me announced, quite happily surprised that, hey I could make a word, and looky here, its ‘guide’. Neato right?

It would have been, had I not been sharing my joy with my fiendish Words with Friends opponent.

This Frienemy clearly had it out to use up my already claimed G and succeeded in locking up the only usable G in the game. /cry

Foolish me to think I was playing with friends. It really should be called Words with Frienemies.

Words with Friends – I Win!

Sunday, December 19th, 2010

So I have this friend, let’s call him something generic like “Patsy”, he is the reason I am playing Words with Friends (WWF). That’s right, Patsy is my Words with Friends pusher. (Damn you Patsy!!)

Well it gets worse, he is the luckiest WWF player I know. Oooh, maybe he invited me just so he could have another person to beat; conspiracy theories abound.

But I finally figured out how to beat him. Muah!! Words with Friends with Themes. (Side note: the whole theme thing will only work if both parties actually stick to the theme to the best of their abilities.)

Tis the Winter Holiday Season

Saturday, December 4th, 2010

Thanksgiving heralds in the winter holidays for me, which is probably why it is my all time favorite meal. Those mashed potatoes and slices of turkey slathered in gravy are merely a gateway to the cozy, snuggle by the fire with hot cacao, bundle up warmly against the chill, tree decorating, cookie making, present giving Winter Holidays.

There is so much too look forward too – good food, lots of cookies, some champagne (okay, lots), presents galore, and every computer game release under the sun.

All the publishers try to capitalize on the random “grandma” sales, which is understandable, LOTS of shopping happen during this season. But for those of us who buy games for themselves, its just a bit overwhelming and costly.

Words with Friends Review (iPhone)

Monday, November 29th, 2010

Hello, Scrabble on the iPhone. Sound boring? Yeah that’s what I thought too. Frankly this was a game I was more then happy to ignore.

See, I suck at spelling, which means my spell checker and I have a very deep and overly dependent relationship. Okay, the dependency might be a bit more weighted to my side.

MK delay tactics

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

Since my latest review is taking (FOREVER!) a while to finish, I thought I would share this little tidbit that a friend forwarded to me.

Its a Kotaku article about a Mortal Kombat video floating around the interwebz. Supposedly people are shopping around a new take on the Mortal Kombat franchise and made this video as a demo.

Even if you aren’t a huge MK fan, this video is definitely worth checking out, its quite promising!

Maker Fair 2010

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Our Sunday was spent amongst the mass of people, sixty thousand strong, at Maker Fair. I will venture to say that it was crowded, and it took me about an hour to find parking, but every second of discomfort was worth it to see the incredible inventions of these amazing people.

It was our first time going and we were not really prepared. Turns out almost the entire event was held outside. Yeah I read convention hall and figured no need for sunscreen and hats.

And one day? What were we thinking??? It was not nearly enough time to experiance the entire event.

We finally left the event sunburned and exhausted, but it was so incredibly worth it. People have made some crazy, ingenious, awesome, and beautiful stuff. And really I can’t not love an event where I can say: “Lets go see the burning thing over there!”

<3 TFG <– will be going next year, all weekend!!
