Thanksgiving heralds in the winter holidays for me, which is probably why it is my all time favorite meal. Those mashed potatoes and slices of turkey slathered in gravy are merely a gateway to the cozy, snuggle by the fire with hot cacao, bundle up warmly against the chill, tree decorating, cookie making, present giving Winter Holidays.
There is so much too look forward too – good food, lots of cookies, some champagne (okay, lots), presents galore, and every computer game release under the sun.
All the publishers try to capitalize on the random “grandma” sales, which is understandable, LOTS of shopping happen during this season. But for those of us who buy games for themselves, its just a bit overwhelming and costly.
What a fabulously appropriate game for Halloween. Hauntingly moody backdrops frame a strange and perilous back-lit puzzle. It is missing a few pumpkins and there certainly isn’t any candy to be found, but it will evoke quite the appropriate mood. =)
Its about time for another little World of Warcraft update. And though I have been trying to keep WoW topics from overwhelming the site, I do still spend quite a lot of time playing it still and could go on and on. Thus I am consolidating all my latest news into one post.
Almost forgot to add that the Midsummer World Event began today which is the last world even that my warlock needs to complete the purple drake flying mount achievement.
After having finished all the holiday event Achievements with my hunter I swore never to do them again. But the super fast flying mount reward is just so incredibly spectacular that I had get one for my warlock. (I should just ban the word ‘never’ from my vocabulary!)
Which of course means suffering through all the holiday achievements. Thankfully the current one, Noble Garden, is not so bad. It took me only one evening of play. Plus I got to run around as a bunny for most of the evening. Whatever changes they made to this event (I know lots of the holiday achievements got an overhaul at one point or another) worked wonders, because I didn’t finish it seething with anger. Nice change of pace. =)
Somehow I totally missed April Fools this year. Granted its not really a holiday (sort of like Pie Day) but its all in good fun. And fun is after all fun, right? (^_^)
Turns out that I hadn’t really missed all that much. Then again I’m a day late so maybe I missed all the fabulous ones.
Anyway, here are the ones that I think are definitely worth sharing:
Its amazing to see what incredible work Ada Lovelace actually did. Imagine all the struggles she must have endured to even be heard. Imagine if more women had had her opportunities.
Thankfully, women now a days get far more encouragement from society. =)
Dedicating a day to all the women that have made the path into technology easier for each generation to come is a wonderful idea. They should all be celecreated, espcially Ada who as the very first programmer is a littler nearer and dearer to my heart.
