2009 – Champion!

Fantasy Football Champion ‘09, that’s me!

I ended up drafting first, which might have helped, but then I’m never sure who to draft, thus my draft order is always a bit wonkey. Never the less I got a team that started out a bit slow but ramped up nicely.

The team finished the season middle of the pack and as luck would have it, most of my players actually participated in the final fantasy playoff weeks.

I dedicate this win to Wes Welker ~sniff sniff~ who kept us strong but had to leave us at the end for a serious knee injury.

Thank you team! I couldn’t have done it without you. =)

2nd!

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

The end of 2008 has seemed like a mad dash to complete everything. Fantasy Football wrapped up just last weekend, Seasonal Achievements in World of Warcraft are coming to an end, and Animal Crossing has been peppered with day long, not to miss extravaganzas.

I made the playoffs!~

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

In fantasy football that is. I even managed fourth place (out of ten) with and 8-6 (wins-losses) record.

This last week was a huge win for my team, even though Antonio Gates (TE) didn’t have a single catch. MVP will have to go to the Arizona Defense who scored 21.50 points. Nice!

The previous two weeks are hardly worth mentioning. My team was crushed both times. Last week, my benched players outscored my actual players. Dismal.

Now I just need to convince Payton Manning to pass to Reggie Wayne again for the playoffs. =D

Lich King Sink Hole!

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

That is where I have been. The black hole that is the new World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King.
I did manage to make level 71 with my hunter and I made a Death Knight. The class itself is a bit convoluted, but the starting quest sequence is a blast. Completely makes you feel evil. Although the redemption part is a bit glossed over.

On another note I got another win in Fantasy Football this week. It wasn’t a fabulous win but I managed some points while my opponent did rather poorly.

MVP for this week is Payton Manning, who threw for 320 yards and two Touch Downs, and most importantly no interceptions!!

Be back soon! (Last expansion I only lasted until level 62, so it really should be soon!)

The Sports Update

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

My hilarious friend over at Random Access Babble has another hilarious update on her Wii Fit. Well worth the extra click. =)

Wii shit talking?

The past two weeks of Fantasy Football have been winners for my team!

Week eight was supposed to be the Manning battle, but then I forgot to play him. Of course he had a fabulous game, on the bench. Payton would have won that week though.
I did manage to eek out a win, mostly thanks to Santana Moss who scored a beastly 24.40 points (240 yards and two TDs). But I think I will have to give week eight MVP to Chris Johnson who, as my last player to go, scored me the 6+ points I needed to win.

Week nine was won handily with my team totaling a grand 103.14 points. Not sure who should get week nine MVP. It’s between my kicker who made 15 points (super high for a kicker, he made six kicks, two of which were over 40 yards) and my defense, Arizona, who scored 18 points.

Since this is the first double digit that my defense has managed this season, MVP will have to be Arizona D. Maybe this will start a new trend. =)

Mario Kart Review (Wii)

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

My Impressions

When the original Mario Kart first came out (way back in the dark ages) I dismissed it as just another racing game. Thankfully I was strong-armed into playing, which resulted in me not leaving my chair for hours.

Mario Kart is probably one of the only racing games that I am truly and utterly devoted too. Funny enough, every time a new version comes out, I go through the whole denial cycle again, only now I have added the ‘how could they make it better’ skepticism.

It was no different with this latest Wii version. I dismissed it out of hand, but like every time before I was helplessly taken in by the splendor that is Mario Kart.

I credit Mario Kart with developing my love of drifting. Back in the day we called them EEEEEEEEEEEeeeee turns. It was only with this new version that I realized that the mechanism is actually called drifting. I might not have known what to call it, but with every version I obsessed about mastering the drift. It’s clearly the best way to win, with style.

The new wheel attachments for the controllers make driving quite entertaining, especially since driving without them is quite a challenge. And since the wheel is wireless and baseless everyone is free to drive the way they like best. I prefer 10-and-2 for those tough drifting courses, but will gladly relax into a low-rider 7-and-5 for the more smooth rides.

Defense – as in Football

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Fantasy Football this week my husband beat me. My loosing didn’t result in him sleeping on the couch since I had no way of pinning Payton Manning’s poor performance on my husband. (Manning garnered a total of 0.53 points)

And again my defense let me down. I also went out on a limb and picked up New Orleans as my new defense (It was time to let New England go), of course they had a stellar game earning 0.50 points.

Which basically amounts to my team taking a two-man handicap. /sigh

MVP goes to Chris Johnson (RB) who had a fantastic game 17.36 points. Ironically he was benched.

Next week in Fantasy Football its the battle of the Mannings, Payton vs Eli! May the best Manning win!

Football, Lich king, and D&D

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Week five of football was a loss. But I am giving MVP of the week to Patrick Willis, who got 14 solo tackles and a sack. That man is a defensive dream machine. No wonder he is the defensive team captain.

This last weekend (week six) was a win. MVP goes to Payton Manning. I know, super predictable, but he had three touchdown passes and no interceptions. That’s good points! And again my defense scored a measly one point. Not sure how much longer it will take for me to realize that the New England defense is not what it was last year and I should drop them like the turd they are.

So now I’m at 3-3 (win-loss). Not bad really, but next week I play my husband which should make for an interesting weekend. I tend to seek him out for football advice. Not so this week.

Today was the big World of Warcraft patch for Wrath of the Lich King expansion. And just in time for me to hit seventy they decide to do a talent wipe. I had finally spent my last five points that I have been hoarding up (okay, avoiding spending), and now I have to do it all over again. Even worse, all the talents are new!!

Did you guys over there at Blizzard not read my post about the agony of deciding??? Just mean!

I played fourth edition Dungeons and Dragons and lived to tell of it. Okay it wasn’t that dramatic, but so far I am rather fond of the new rules. It’s different which in a lot of ways makes me feel better about shelling out for yet another D&D Player’s Handbook.

Fantasy Football Roster Update

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Fantasy Football this week went so much better for me. High score of the week with a whopping 105.62 points. My somewhat unlucky opponent got low score of the week, 46.21 points.

My defense again was into negative points, but thankfully at the end pulled out and ended with 1 point, which is better then negative. I’m really not having much luck with Defenses this year.

Here is my week 4 roster (since five of my regular guys were on byes):
Trent Edwards (QB), Santana Moss (WR), Steve Smith (WR), Edgerrin James (RB) Antonio Gates (TE), Johnnie Lee Higgins (WR), Chris Johnson (RB), David Akers (K), Arizona (DEF), Patrick Willis (DL)

Another thing to note this last week was that my kicker, David Akers the Philadelphia Eagles kicker, did miss two field goals but he got a awesome tackle. He hunkered down and took out the kick returnee that had broken free and probably would have scored. The poor guy got so smooshed his helmet came flying off.

Wario and Football

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

This PR gem that the Nintendo team came up with is well worth seeing. Its for their new Wario Land – Shake it! game.

http://www.youtube.com/experiencewii

So far the game is really entertaining.

**

Week three of fantasy football spelled tragedy for me. I went from the having the high score the first week to a dismal 51.53 points – lowest score. The real culprit was my defense – New England. They got me negative four points. That’s right, I would have been better off not playing a defense at all. Oh how the mighty have fallen. =/

It gets worse for next week; five of my guys are on byes. Then again my team has been performing so poorly, it’s hard to imagine it getting any worse.
