Wario and Football

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

This PR gem that the Nintendo team came up with is well worth seeing. Its for their new Wario Land – Shake it! game.

So far the game is really entertaining.

Week three of fantasy football spelled tragedy for me. I went from the having the high score the first week to a dismal 51.53 points – lowest score. The real culprit was my defense – New England. They got me negative four points. That’s right, I would have been better off not playing a defense at all. Oh how the mighty have fallen. =/

It gets worse for next week; five of my guys are on byes. Then again my team has been performing so poorly, it’s hard to imagine it getting any worse.

Fantasy Football ’08 Week Two

ff helmet

Week one I managed to win and get high score of the week. I achieved this with only 83.30 points, which should speak to what a dismal week it was point wise.

And while week two I attained a respectable 91.19 points (yaaay palindrome!), it wasn’t enough to beat my opponents meaty 104.75.

But the real drama for this week was that both teams in a different match up in our league tied with 104.14 points. This is the first time any of us have witnessed a tie. I guess it happens sometimes since the website does have a column for just such an occasion.

Ah the high drama of football. =)

Football starts again!

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Football season has begun and with it so has Fantasy Football. I got really lucky this year and drafted ninth (out of ten and yes its sarcasm). It’s not the first time I have had a poor draft position. Seemingly I get stuck there more often then not. There must be something wrong with our league, since the same person has gotten LT three years in a row and its not me!

Here is my team:

    Starters

  • Peyton Manning (QB)
  • Reggie Wayne (WR)
  • Santana Moss (WR)
  • Brandon Jacobs (RB)
  • Antonio Gates (TE)
  • Patrick Crayton (WR)
  • Edgerrin James (RB)
  • David Akers (K)
  • Patrick Willis (DL)
  • New England (Team Defense)
    Backups

  • Javon Walker (WR)
  • Bernard Berrian (WR)
  • Chester Taylor (RB)
  • Vince Young (QB)
  • Greg Olsen (TE)
  • Ellis Hobbs (DB)

Wish me luck, especially since Payton Manning is fresh off of knee surgery. We will see how he holds up.

Also the defensive players numbers got changed a bit from last year. Hopefully the tweaks will make that position more viable. Come on Patrick Willis! Get those twenty solo tackles a game!!

ps. After todays (sunday) last game (poor Colts!) all my players have gone and my team has racked up 84.20 points, which puts me a firm twenty points ahead of my opponent – who still has possible points from tomorrows game.

Demo Reviews: Geometry Wars 2 and Braid Game (xBox Live)

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Both of these are demo reviews. Wanting to indicate that within the review I used a new special mushroom type. Seems that I will use any excuse to come up with new mushroom type. =)

I really didn’t feel good about doing a whole review on either. Even though I fully utilized the playtime of each demo, I was limited by what sections of the games were available. Its doubtful I made it past an hour play on either.

Each game was looked at more in regards to whether the demo would encourage purchasing the full version or not.

That being said, I have not purchased the full version of either game. Why? Well you will have to read the reviews to find out.

It did occur to me while writing the reviews, that maybe I should purchase these games, just so I can support the small developers, the underdogs, and the innovators. The game industry needs more Geometry Wars and Braids out there pushing the boundaries, helping everyone redefine what is profitable and worthwhile.

Dollar voting, it’s what businesses understand.

Wii Fit by Random Access Babble

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

A good friend of mine recently wrote a review of Wii Fit on her blog. She manages to convey good information as well as hilarious insight. Clearly she is brilliant!

I love reading her blog, but since this particular post has a bit more relevance with the topics I usually post about, I though I would give it a direct link.

Give it a read!

Fantasy Football Yahoo! Review (Web)

My Impressions

The football season will be upon us soon and I thought it might be best if I get this review out before then. Okay so really football doesn’t start until something like September, but the draft is starting soon. Besides it seems like there are perpetual sports of one kind or another at any given time of the year. Right now we are in full baseball swing. Basketball and hockey are the two others I can think of. Since I am a peripheral sports enthusiast, my knowledge of most sporting events can be attributed to my husband and/or the sports section in the paper.
