I’m quite pleased with my 124 books read last year. Its certainly well beyond my intended one hundred. /flex
124 books translates into 46,346 pages (give or take a few hundred for user error). Now that is an impressive number!
So this year, instead of going for books read, my goal will be to read 50,000 pages. I will still be doing my challenges and reading roughly ten-ish books a month (I will actually be running quite a few different challenges over at Goodreads.com) but I will refrain from boring you all by posting about them. =P
The idea came to me last year after I had finished a monster book worth 850+ pages. It just felt so unfair that this huge volume only counted as a single entry.
This year size WILL matter. I can aim for meaty books and not feel like I’m limiting myself because each page will count!
An auspicious date to review, preview, and most importantly enjoy day 1!

Its amazing how much I can get done when I’m not playing World of Warcraft twenty-ish hours a week. (I might be underestimating a bit there…)
I can do things like take long, luxurious, sudsy baths or post more often on my site. CRAZY!
/sigh I miss WoW. All this productivity is getting too me.
(edit for clarification: I miss the OLD WoW! The new fancy “we changed everything without actually really affecting any change” can suck my a$$!)
I make it almost impossible for people to post comments! (Maybe its some deep secret need to discourage people from commenting, since having no feedback means less criticism. Plus an affirmation that no one really reads this blog anyway. I have low blog-esteem. ) =P
Each comment must jump through various hoops before it is allowed the privilege of appearing for everyone to see. But most importantly I have final approval over all. Muahahah!
Which means I get to read all the spam comments so everyone else doesn’t have to. What boggles me is that they (the spammers) somehow manage to jump through all those hoops. And its not always the same source. I’ve got spam variety – on my dinky little geek site, I have spam variety.
I would plead for mercy, but I doubt it would register with the spammers. What we need is a national (Webinal?) “do not comment” list, you know like the “do not call” list.
In generally I try to avoid personal stuff on the website, but every now and then a few life bits just have to be shared. Like today; mostly because I feel bad about not having posted in a while.
I’ve been feeling pretty bunk lately, which means I have almost no motivation to write (<– not something that comes naturally to me, it requires many swift kicks in the ass to complete!) So when I’m not feeling great its even harder for me to get my act together. Thus the lack of posting. Anyway I’m dealing with that whole thing and am finally feeling better.
Plus at the beginning of the month we fell into fostering a lovely high school senior for the year. By fell I mean it was not premeditated, but this lovely young lady needed a place to call home and for some crazy reason decided that we were worthy. Its been a whirl wind and I have found myself enchanted, terrified, confused, mortified, and quite amused. She fits into our life well, like she was supposed to be here anyway. =)
The whole experience also reminds me of how happy I am not to be a teenager anymore.
So I upgraded to Wordpress 3.0 and now my images dont show up.
No one seems to know exactly why. Fun.
Excuse the lack of images. Will get that fixed as soon as I can. (Edit: I should say, I am going to ask the lovely, smart people at Dreamhost to fix the problem. They are my Tech-Knights in Shining Armor. /swoon)
(Edit #2, the Wordpress upgrade renamed one of my folders, which is why the pictures aren’t working. Now I need to figure out how to fix it so I dont have to go and manually fix every single image.)
(Edit #3, work around fixed. Images back up. Thanks soooo much Dreamhost techies!)
Some people have fancy cars or big houses, some have fine clothes and jewelry, but when we have company over, my point of pride is always our game closet.
I have this pattern with guests and it goes something like this: welcome welcome, greeting at the door, rush through living area, kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom, and then finally our game closet! When I open the door, I envision a choir of angels singing, the clouds parting and rays of light illuminating the fabulousness that is the game closet. (Note to self: figure out way to hook up audio and lights to game closet door.) (more…)
Last month I had the brilliant (ridiculously overambitious?) idea that I would try and review a bunch of my DS games. For some reason I didn’t find magical extra time to cram through more then a few of the games and thus DS Review month is extended, indefinitely.
I say indefinitely because I am fairly sure that by the time I get through my bag of old DS games I will have acquired more.
Actually I am rather interested in getting through some more of them as I am hoping to finally get to some better games. Sometimes I wonder how I manage to get stuck with such crappy games.
I just slept twenty two hours out of the last thirty six. It is incredible how much I can not get done while I’m sleeping. To make matters worse I was exhausted for the twelve hours I was awake. Hell I’m exhausted now, which means I should probably be sleeping. UGH.
It almost feels like my inner seventeen year old has reared its ugly head. I sleep all the time and am incredibly moody when I’m awake. To say I was happy to leave that whole thing behind is a rather large understatement.
Hopefully I can sleep my way back to my current age. =P
