Date my Avatar?
I’m sure everyone under the sun (or should I say hiding from the sun) has seen this already, but I just couldn’t refrain from posting it. Simply because its AWESOME!
It turned out to be an add campaign for season three of The Guild. As far as advertisement goes, I found this music video to be not only effective but also extremely enjoyable. =)
(Its not that often that I actually enjoy an advertising campaign. In general I find most advertisements to be more of an unwelcome intrusion.)
Besides Felicia Day wrote the lyrics (and sings) and they are hilarious, especially if you have ever played on an MMO.
Watch it, its worth it.
As I was watching this, it struck me that I dont find Felicia Day to be that attractive. Possibly its just my preconceived notions on what the ladies in a music video need to look like, or years of television programming me for expecting a certain level of beauty on screen. She certainly doesn’t fit that bill.
The whole thing bothered me. It bothered me that I had this expectation of beauty. It bothered me that it was even something that occurred to me. And when something bothers me I have to mull it over.
I watched the video a few more times, got the song stuck in my head, and concluded that yes Felicia Day is in fact not someone I would classically call beautiful (damn that stupid programming! No more TV for me!). But the important conclusion I got from all of this is that it doesn’t really matter, in fact I think I like her even more now.
I like her not for her beauty, but for her charm of personally that really comes through in all of her work, for her intelligence and the fact that she is the brain child behind so many of the projects she is a part of. For all of that I respect her immensely. And really she is more then plenty cute. =)

That was almost like a sequel. =D
They probably need some sort of monetary incentive, as in, if they sell a million dvd units they can get funding to for a next etc.
