Star Trek Movie Review (Theatrical)
I had to wait until the second (SECOND!) weekend to go see this. Agony, I tell you, complete agony.
So I exaggerate a bit, but I was excited to finally go see it. Especially since the last movie my husband and I went to see together had been Transformers (that’s right, summer 2007!).
It was well worth the wait. I laughed, I cried, but most importantly I left the theater feeling elated.
Lost of people are calling this movie a reboot to the franchise and I will have to agree with them. Although the way they went about it was probably the most typical sci-fi plot device in the movie. Never the less the movie was less about plot (which was a bit weak)and more about the characters and bringing them all together.
Not to give away any spoilers (if you haven’t seen this movie, you need step away from the computer and go see it NOW!) but they don’t wrap everything up in a nice little bow at the end. Oh they do enough for Star Trek, but it reminds me more of the return of Captain Picard after being taken by the Borg. He was never quite the same again (he was better!)
Despite all the changes, this movie radiates familiarity and humanity, but mostly it feels like a welcome homecoming.
Go see it! (Again!)

I’m happy that you enjoyed the movie! I’m going to try to watch it again at a theater with IMAX.
