Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen Movie Review (Theatrical)
If the first movie was an aphrodisiac, then this sequel is laughing gas – riding high while laughing all the way.
It’s definitely a solid addition to the franchise and ultimately reminded me more of the TV show then its predecessor. Lot more humor, big action, and Optimus starting and ending the movie with his usual monologue.
Plot wise there are holes the size of Bumblebee, but I attribute those to authenticity and filled in the blanks myself. =)
In fact there quite a few of the plot lines reminded me of the first movie and I am tempted to say they just added material to the first script, but the run time for each movie is the same. I think its more likely that this was a previous version of the first movie script that got a bunch of extras added to it.
What was exceptional about this sequel was the CG. Many sequels to big blockbusters will try to do too much with too little money, but clearly there was no holding back on quality for this sequel. It was quite impressive.
The movie did feel a bit bloated, but that might have had to do with the fact that I had to pee for half the movie, which tends to make me a bit impatient. =) There were some small scenes that seemed out of place, almost like they had way too much material and just couldn’t bring themselves to cut some favorite pieces.
Again a bit too much time spent on human parts. I think they gave us more Decepticon back-story (which strongly reminded me of Darth Vader) as consolation. And even though there were quite a few Decepticons, there were precious few Autobots. Essentially it was Optimus, Bumblebee and a few stragglers. I vote for more Autobots in the third one.
And there will be a third one, since this movie blew the box office out of the water. I hope they keep up with the cheesy action packed quality, because I’m enjoying them so far.

The only good things about these movies, they make us forget about Jar Jar.

There is no forgetting Jar Jar, stop deluding yourself!
Arcee is in fact in the movie, although she has a total of one line. I would call it more of a cameo then anything.

Jar Jar who? All I see when I try to picture him is a giant robot peeing on someone. Or maybe a super-giant robot with testicles.
